Stanwick Nets 6 Goals, Virginia Men’s Lacrosse Beats Penn, 10-8

DENVER – Steele Stanwick scored a career-high six goals and finished with seven points to lead the No. 6 Virginia Cavaliers (11-3) to a 10-8 victory over the Penn Quakers (3-10), Friday evening at the Whitman’s Sampler Mile High Classic, inside Sports Authority Field and Mile High. With the seven points, Stanwick now moves up to No. 22 all-time in NCAA Division I career points with 260. Virginia is now 7-0 all-time in Inside Lacrosse events. Read More…

2012 All-ACC Men’s Lacrosse Team is Void of All Close Defenders

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Six 2012 Tewaaraton Trophy nominees highlight this year’s All-ACC Men’s Lacrosse Team as announced today by the league office. The team is determined by a vote of the league’s four head coaches. Maryland leads all conference teams with four players recognized. Junior midfielder Jesse Bernhardt, who is on the Tewaaraton Watch List, is joined by teammates John Haus, Joe Cummings and Niko Amato. Cummings and Amato both repeat as members of the All-ACC Team. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Cavaliers (10-1, 2-0 ACC) hold the top spot in the nation, ranking No. 1 this week in the USILA coaches and Nike/Inside Lacrosse media polls. UVa returns home to host the Duke Blue Devils (10-3, 1-1 ACC), who are ranked No. 7 in both the coaches and media polls, and winners of seven straight. Faceoff is set for 6 p.m., inside Klöckner Stadium. The winner will claim the regular season ACC title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming ACC Championship in Charlottesville.
