Tampa Announces First Women’s Lacrosse Schedule

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women’s lacrosse program has announced its schedule for the inaugural season, as announced by head coach Kelly Gallagher.

The schedule includes four teams that were nationally ranked to end the 2013 season, including the nation’s No. 2 and 3 ranked squads. Additionally, a pair of regionally-ranked opponents will also play the Spartans.

UT will play 12 of its 17 regular-season games at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex, beginning with the program’s first regular season game against Rollins College on February 9 at 2 p.m. The Tars finished the 2013 season with a 16-2 record, and will also host the Spartans to end the regular season on April 27 in Winter Park.

Following the opener, UT will travel to Queens and Belmont-Abbey to face a pair of regionally-ranked teams. The Spartans will meet Queens in Charlotte on February 21, followed by Belmont-Abbey on February 23 2 p.m.

Tampa will then return home for 11 consecutive games, headlined by a March 10 contest against perennial powerhouse Limestone College. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m., as the Saints were No. 2 in the nation with a 20-2 record in 2013. UT will also host No. 12 Indiana University of Pennsylvania on March 15.

After hosting local opponent Saint Leo on April 4, Tampa will be on the road for the final three regular season games, beginning on April 12 at Florida Southern. The Moccasins were ranked No. 10 in the final 2013 poll. A game at Young Harris is on tap for April 16 before Tampa concludes its regular season at Rollins.
