Tampa to Host Deep South Conference Semi Finals as Tournament Schedule Released


WINGATE, N.C.-The field has been set for the 2012 Deep South Conference Tournament, which will begin Tuesday night. The league is divided into North and South regions for the tournament. Tampa will be the number one seed in the South, while Mars Hill earns the top seed in the North. The Lions and Spartans both went 7-1 during DSC play this year, sharing the regular season conference championship. The two teams will get first round byes, and will then host the semifinals on Thursday. Sunday’s championship game will be played at Mars Hill.

Catawba College finished with the number two seed in the North region with a 6-2 mark in league play. The Indians will host the third-seeded Bulldogs of Wingate University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Wingate finished 3-5 in league play. The winner of that contest travels to Mars Hill Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Florida Southern finished with the number two seed in the South Region after going 6-2 in the DSC. The Moccasins will host the third-seeded Lions of Saint Leo University Tuesday at 7 p.m. Saint Leo finished 4-4 in conference play. The winner of that contest travels to Tampa Thursday night at 7 p.m.

The winner of each region will advance to Sunday’s championship game, which will take place at Mars Hill College at 1 p.m.
