The Best Lacrosse Play You’ll See All Day, Michael Ortlieb

July 7, we turned you guys onto a legit uncommitted Goalie from Corona del Mar High School in California. The kid’s name is Michael Ortlieb ’12. He’s relatively unheard of because he hasn’t always been his team’s goalie. Nope, he used to be the team’s leading scorer just a year ago at Attack. SportsForceOnline.com, a college recruiting company, posted a video of Ortlieb diving across the crease a la Brian Carcaterra.

The goalie is caught outside of his crease on a botched clearing attempt. His Defenseman throws it to the riding attackman on the crease and the goalie has no other choice but to dive. Quite an athletic save. Cue Flow Bucket bottom left at the :05 mark.

Here is his full highlight video from the 2011 season. Let us know what you think of his moves in the comments section below.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
