The Las Vegas Lacrosse Showcase Announces 2012 Tournament Details

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Las Vegas Lacrosse Showcase has become one of the premiere lacrosse tournaments in the West, and on November 9-‐11 it is only going to get bigger.

Playing Talent
The cornerstone of the Showcase is the Best of the West college tournament, which will feature the nation’s top MCLA teams including 2011 National Champions BYU and 2012 MCLA Finalists Cal Poly. The University of Arizona Laxcats are a staple of this event and Stanford and San Diego State are among teams to make their first tournament appearance this year.

The Showcase also features one of the most competitive Men’s Elite divisions on the West Coast. Twisted Steel will be back to defend their 2011 title while 2010-‐2011 finalists
Xiphos, as well as LacrosseAllStars.com and 2010 champion Salt Shakerz will all be back trying to unseat them.

LVLS has added 3 playing divisions this year, Women’s Elite, Girls U-‐19, and Boys U-‐13. This brings the total playing divisions to 9 with Boys U-‐19, U-‐17, U-‐15 and Men’s Masters
rounding out the mix and a total of over 10 states represented.

Venue
The LVLS will be returning to the world-‐class facility at the Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex.
11 pristine fields highlight a venue and amenities in a way only Las Vegas can provide.

The LVLS vendor village will be denser than ever featuring some of Las Vegas’ signature food trucks and for the first time will feature an adult player’s lounge available to all Elite and Masters players, coaches and referees. Planet Hollywood and Buca di Beppo will also act as sponsors and provide banquet-‐style dining opportunities for teams off the field after game play.

Sponsors, Clinics, and Special Events
Easton and Warrior Lacrosse will sponsor this year’s Showcase and will team up with 2012 MLL Rookie of the Year, Matt Gibson, BYU Men’s Head Coach Matt Schneck and Women’s
Head Coach Julie Smith to provide youth clinics for all youth players on Friday night.

LacrosseAllStars.com will host a special media tent, including guest appearances by professional players, full media coverage of the event, and giveaways for players and fans.

John Christmas will also be on hand as the official apparel sponsor of the event, with his social awareness apparel line, Encore Brand. Encore creates cutting edge apparel designs for players on and off the field, and works to promote inner city lacrosse through it’s non-‐profit partners and international projects.

Of course, no Las Vegas tournament would be complete without a player party…and LVLS is going straight to the top of the scene this year. Join your fellow (adult) players after the action Friday at LAX Nightclub and Saturday at PURE Nightclub. Players will receive free admission before midnight and access to tournament exclusive specials at both venues.

Charity
LVLS will be participating in Movember, a mustache-‐based charity event that is sweeping the globe. Players will be encouraged to register on Movember.com, create a profile, and document the growth of their mustache during the month of November. By sharing this profile with their social media community, players will help raise funds for men’s health research through the Prostate Cancer Foundation. LVLS will also be giving away some cool prizes for players sporting the best mustaches on the field!

Accommodations
LVLS has arranged exclusive hotel rates for participants and their families at 14 different hotels from the strip to the field. They have also arranged a van rental service for traveling
teams. To register your team or read more information, visit their website at www.lasvegaslacrosseshowcase.com. For specific inquiries visit the “Contact Us” page.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
