One of the trends in lacrosse equipment lately is the colored heads and limited edition products that companies are putting out. Warrior has come out with a limited edition run of the Warrior Noz in six different colors. There were only 200 of each head made, which means this is a limited edition run that is only available at select retailers. The heads retail for the same price as the white Noz heads.
We spoke to Tom Burns, Product Manager for Warrior Sports, who told us a bit about the decision making behind the limited edition Warrior Noz heads.
“Just a few years back it seemed like there were no colors being offered from manufacturers. Player preference was for white heads because of the notion that it disguised the ball in the pocket,” said Burns. “Lately the trend in colored heads has been huge. I think it is just the natural flow to move away from the norm of white heads and really stand out on the field. I am seeing really customized heads hitting the fields this last summer. From custom dyed heads to completely customized and colored shooting strings and pockets, the trend seems to be moving towards more and more color in the sticks.”
The head comes just in time for the retail holiday season. The Noz, of course, is the lightest head on the market, but on the outside the Noz doesn’t look much different than any other stick. On the inside, air pockets were created through a Nitrogen injection process while molding the head, which makes it so light (see a cross-section of the Warrior Noz here). Warrior hopes the limited edition colors will attract players to the Noz and allow them to experience the head’s technology first hand.
In total, there are six colors available to choose from (black, Navy, red, royal blue, silver, and orange). Warrior chose these six colors because they were the top-selling team colors and wanted to make them available for players looking to customize their look.
“Teams are really starting to look for a customized team look,” said Burns. “Everything from matching shoe colors to matching head colors have really become popular at the team level and we want to help consumers customize the look of their stick to match their team.”
