University of Maryland Wears Vintage Decals In Win Over Navy

The Hardshells from College Park have adorned helmets with a number of decals over the years, but none compare to the 1975 lacrosse logo. 1975 was the last year the University of Maryland won a National Championship under Coach Bud Beardmore. Friday night, the current Terps rekindled the spirit of ’75 with old school decals on their CPX-R helmets. Click here to see their usual helmet decals.

Senior Joe Cummings had a hat trick and two assists to lead the No. 12 Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 13-6 victory over in-state rival Navy in front of 5,022 at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium Friday evening. Maryland improves to 6-3 on the year, while Navy falls to 5-5.

Maryland returns to action on Saturday night, April 14, when its plays at Johns Hopkins in the 108th meeting of College Lacrosse’s Greatest Rivalry. The Terps and the Blue Jays are scheduled for a 6 p.m. faceoff at Homewood Field.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
