Video: Quint Kessenich Analyzes First Female Lacrosse Player in Major League Lacrosse

Quint Kessenich Hopes Devon Wills Doesn't Receive Walking Papers

An historic moment took place yesterday when the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse claimed Devon Wills off the Player Pool. She has the chance to be the first ever female lacrosse player to make a professional field team. Quint’s words aren’t exactly encouraging, but he doesn’t degrade Wills either.

Wills has been in the U.S. Lacrosse Player pool since 2007 participating in two FIL World Cups and backstopping the U.S. National Team to two Gold Medals including the most recent win over Canada this past summer when she was also named to the FIL World Cup All-World Team. Wills will have a chance to fight for a spot on the first team at the beginning of April when the Lizards convene for training camp.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
