Virginia and Maryland Set To Play in Scott Stadium

The Terps visit Charlottesville April 2nd to play the Wahoos at 12, live on ESPNU. They will be playing in Scott Stadium which is a rare occurrence because the stadium is primarily used for football. Scott Stadium for years served as the home to the UVa men’s lacrosse program, but with the building of Klöckner Stadium in 1993. The Cavaliers only returned to the football edifice to play on the artificial turf when inclement weather deemed Klöckner unplayable.

Saturday’s game marks the first time the men’s lacrosse program has played inside Soctt Stadium since beating Penn State, 20-12, on March 8, 1995. Following the game the artificial turf was torn up and grass was layed in time for the 1995 football campaign.

Freshman middie, Rob Emery, talks about playing in Scott Stadium.

The Orange-Blue spring football game will start approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of the lacrosse game and that event will be also be streamed lived on ESPN3.com. For more information visit VirginiaSports.com and UVA Mens Lacrosse.
