Virginia Women’s Lacrosse Team Retiring Yeardley Love’s Number

CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia women’s lacrosse program will remember and honor Yeardley Love in a ceremony prior to the Cavaliers’ game with Penn State at Klöckner Stadium on Sunday, March 6.

During the ceremony, the number one worn by Love as a Cavalier will be permanently retired in honor and remembrance of her life, commitment and dedication to the women’s lacrosse program and to the University.

“I hope our fans can attend and join all of us – our team, Yeardley’s closest friends and her family – as we remember and honor her,” Virginia head coach Julie Myers said. “Yeardley’s presence and influence on all of us will be forever cherished and held deep in our hearts.”

The ceremony will begin 10 minutes prior to the game’s 1 p.m. start time.
