GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia junior attackman Nick O’Reilly and Maryland junior defenseman Michael Ehrhardt have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Making his first appearance for Virginia since the 2011 NCAA title game, O’Reilly dished out a career-high six assists and scored two goals for a career-high eight points. His sixth assist was on Matt White’s game-winning goal 11 seconds into overtime, helping the Cavaliers to the 13-12 win. O’Reilly assisted three of White’s game-high four goals.

O’Reilly scored his two goals back-to-back in the first quarter to help Virginia out to a 3-0 lead. Five of his assists either tied the game or gave the Cavaliers a one-goal advantage, including the game-winner. The native of Rockville Centre, N.Y., also had a team-high six ground balls, matching a game high.

Ehrhardt led the Terrapin defense in two dominating performances last week. His four groundballs against Mount St. Mary’s tied for the team lead among non-faceoff men, while helping hold the Mount offense to just 18 shots in the first three quarters.

The native of Westbury, N.Y., followed that up with a career-best six groundballs at Hartford, leading the defense to shutout the Hawks for a span of 25:37 from late in the first quarter to late in the third quarter. Maryland’s defense held Hartford to just one 6-on-6 goal in the first three quarters and Ehrhardt’s assignment, Andrew Cacchio, was limited to just two shots.
