The Michigan guys definitely know how to make jaws drop. The Wolverines recently participated in the annual Mock Rock, which is a celebrated event to raise money for a local children’s hospital. The Ohio State Men’s team participated in a similar event years ago and actually won. But, we can’t help but be reminded of Maryland’s Travis Reed breaking it down to Akon.

The Buckeyes can swag in spandex, too.

LaxUNation – The event began in 1999 as a tribute to Michigan wrestler Jeff Reese, who passed away while training for a meet. Proceeds initially went to the Jeff Reese Endowed Scholarship fund. Once the scholarship was fully funded, student-athletes found another worthy cause in U-M’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and the tradition of Mock Rock remains alive.

Mock Rock celebrated its 10th anniversary in February 2009, raising the largest sum in event history. With Desmond Howard serving as Master of Ceremonies, over 30 teams participated in the fundraising, organization and performance, collecting nearly $76,000. Funds raised from the 2009 event benefited the cancer floor at the new Mott Children’s Hospital, and the local non-profit organization Telling It, which seeks to empower Washtenaw County’s economically disadvantaged children and teens in a creative and artistic manner.
