Before the No. 4 seeded University of Denver Lacrosse team and the No. 1 seeded Syracuse University Orange play on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., Denver was graced with the presence of Wes Welker. The Denver Bronco didn’t dazzle like Ray Lewis’ speech to the Loyola Lacrosse team last year, but he did speak from the heart. He spoke about pain, sacrifice, and hard work.

My initial thought was, “Was Peyton Manning unavailable?” But, then I came to realize that Welker’s less than ostentatious journey to the NFL is similar (not really, but you know) to Denver’s journey to the Final Four. Denver and Welker’s path to the big game from small, humble beginnings is inspiring.

For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling.
