2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship on ESPN Networks Begins Sunday with NCAA Selection Show

ESPNU will exclusively unveil the bracket during the hour-long 2014 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Selection Show Presented by Northwestern Mutual on Sunday, May 4, at 9 p.m. ET. Host Anish Shroff and analysts Quint Kessenich and Paul Carcaterra will provide breakdown of the field and tournament predictions, along with interviews with select head coaches.

During their college careers, Kessenich (Johns Hopkins) and Carcaterra (Syracuse) both played in four NCAA Championships and each won a national title with their respective teams.

A live phone interview is planned with NCAA Committee Chairman Jim Siedliski, who will discuss the bracket and the process behind each team’s berth. Live phone interviews are also planned with several head coaches from the expected tournament field, including Charley Toomey (Loyola) and John Desko (Syracuse).

For the first time, the 16-team field features two play-in games (May 7) yielding from 10 automatic and eight at-large bids.

ESPN2, ESPNU and WatchESPN will provide exclusive coverage the final 15 games of the 2014 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship beginning with first-round games on Saturday, May 10, and concluding with the national title game onMonday, May 26. The National Championship will also air on ESPNU via the Spider Cam feed – an alternate viewing fan experience that in the past was integrated into the traditional telecast.

The women’s championship weekend opens Friday, May 23, with the national semifinals shown on ESPN3, followed by the title game on Sunday, May 25, airing on ESPNU and WatchESPN.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
