2014 Vail Lacrosse Shootout – Day 1


Day one of the Vail Lacrosse Shootout kicked off with action in only one division. The Under 19 High School Boys division began with pool play to determine bracket seeding. The Baltimore Crabs, Laxachusetts, FCA, and Midwest took the top spots in their respective conferences.

Tomorrow’s tournament play will expand to include both the High School Boys and Girls divisions. The Under 19 Boys will start their first day of bracket play. The Division 1 bracket games will be played at the Vail Athletic field, and the Division 2 games will be played at the Vail Mountain School. The Under 19 High School Girls tournament will also get started with all games being played at the Edwards fields.

Conference B
ADVNC 10, Laxachusetts 11 OT
Laxachusetts took a commanding lead in the first half, but slowed down enough in the second to let ADVNC catch up by the end of regulation time. Attackman Harry Giarrusso for Laxachusetts ended the day scoring the final goal after a minute of overtime play.

Brady’s Bunch 2, FCA 8
Nebraska Prime 2, Colorado 17
Colorado 4, FCA 6
FCA experienced its closest game of the day against a tired, but determined Colorado team. Colorado fought hard, but never seemed to be able to catch up and maintain the lead.

Midwest 7, ADRLN Jr. Tropics 5
Midwest and the ADRLN Jr. Tropics were evenly matched in this close game, with each goal being quickly answered by the opposing team. In the end, it was Midwest who made the final sprint to the finish to win by two.
