MELBOURNE, Fla. – Freshman midfielder Amanda Rom was named Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Rom was selected from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 16-22. This marks the first time that a women’s lacrosse player has won conference player of the week honors.
Rom and the Spartans were able to split a pair of games this week with the loss coming against No. 5 Limestone and the win coming against Newberry. In the loss, Rom scored three goals on four shots while also adding five ground balls, one forced turnover, and 11 draw controls. In the win against Newberry, the freshman midfielder scored one goal and had two assists in the 17-7 win. Her all around play continued as she added four caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.
UT will be back in action on March 4th, as they welcome in Wheeling Jesuit in the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
