Both CAL and UCSB are generally strong teams in the WCLL. This year, both are off to a slow start making winning this game all the more important. Both are young teams, with a lot of talented freshman. CAL has a new head coach, Ned Webster, who was recruited by a strong alumni group hoping to raise the Bears lacrosse profile. The game was played in the newly rebuilt Memorial Stadium, which makes a great venue for lacrosse.
