CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL SET FOR THE LACROSSE ASSOCIATION OF KANSAS CITY

Olathe East and Shawnee-Mission East will meet Friday night May 29 at UMKC’s Durwood Stadium in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City championship game.
Shawnee-Mission East defeated defending champion Rockhurst in the first semi-final Wednesday, 10-8. The Lancers, 14-5, overcame an early 5-1 deficit by taking control of the game late. A goal by SM East attackman Jackson Gossick with 2:13 left in the game broke an 8-8 tie. Gossick added another goal about one minute later to put the game out of reach.
Olathe East edged Blue Valley West in the semi-final nightcap, 10-9. Olathe East built an early lead before West battled back in the second half tying the game at 9 on a goal by Kollin Schechinger with 3 minutes left. Olathe East, 15-1, scored the game winning goal with 1:27 left on the clock on a goal by Cole Strauss.
The championship game will begin at 7:30 pm. Prior to the championship, the 8th grade Kansas City Youth Lacrosse League (KCYLL) will hold their all-star game at 5 pm.
