Christmas Comes Early for Cincinnati Lacrosse Players

Long Island City, NY – November 3, 2010 – Christmas is coming early for lacrosse players in Cincinnati, that’s John Christmas. On Saturday, November 20th, all time lacrosse great and Maverik Lacrosse representative John Christmas will be sharing his knowledge of lacrosse and love for the game with fast rising youth through high school players at a clinic hosted by Cincinnati Elite Lacrosse from 3:00pm to 4:30 pm at Moeller High School (9001 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati).

“We are really excited about having someone as knowledgeable as John work with our players and help them better understand the fundamental and technical aspects of the game,” said Pat Kennedy, founder of Cincinnati Elite Lacrosse and a former attackman at Syracuse University. “Maverik and all of its player representatives should be commended for their dedication to growing the sport of lacrosse and their selfless giving of their time.”

Christmas grew up in Philadelphia and quickly made a name for himself playing lacrosse at Lower Merion High School where he lead the Aces to the EPSLA Lacrosse Championship in 1999 and was selected as an All-American three times. John attended the University of Virginia where he garnered rookie of the year honors, twice was named an All-American and was a key contributor to the Cavaliers 2003 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship. After leaving the Cavaliers John has made his mark playing professionally both indoors for the Philadelphia Wings franchise in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and outdoors with the Boston Cannons in Major League Lacrosse (MLL). His post collegiate accomplishments include playing for Team USA in the 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, being named the Most Improved Player by the MLL in 2006 and being selected to play in the 2006 MLL All-Star Game.

“Pat is very passionate about lacrosse and he is equally determined to put Cincinnati on the map as the next hot bed for lacrosse,” said John Gagliardi, founder and President of Maverik Lacrosse. “We are very happy to help Pat grow the sport of lacrosse in Cincinnati and support him in his efforts to develop the next generation of elite players.”
