AUSTIN, Texas (May 12, 2015)—CoachTube.com, the first and only two-sided marketplace for aspiring athletes, professional coaches and parent coaches, today announced their acquisition of PlaySportsTV, positioning CoachTube.com to be the largest online marketplace for coaching and sports education in the world. CoachTube founder, Wade Floyd and PlaySportsTV president and founder, Doug Donaldson both began their journeys with a shared passion to create a level playing field for aspiring athletes around the world.

“When I first met Wade it was clear that we shared the same passion and vision towards youth sports. We both agree that the production and delivery of high quality instructional content is critical to that mission, so we started to explore a collaboration,” Doug Donaldson, president and founder of PlaySportsTV, said. “The combined strengths of PlaySportsTV and CoachTube has established us as the formidable player in the marketplace and I am delighted that PlaySportsTV has become a part of CoachTube.”

With this acquisition CoachTube now provides access to over 350 courses, enabling athletes to learn skills and techniques on-demand from some of the world’s leading coaches in their respected sports. CoachTube.com allows coaches to disseminate useful content, without having to worry about technology, distribution costs or marketing, all while providing the opportunity to supplement their income or donate funds to their favorite charity. CoachTube.com makes it easy to create and share premium content with audiences anywhere in the world at an affordable rate, allowing anyone to access CoachTube from their desktop, laptop or even a smart phone.

“Online sports training is still extremely fragmented with DVDs, niche sites, and clip videos spread out over the web, much like electronic commerce was 8 years ago. This acquisition will help position CoachTube as the epicenter for online sports education, a place where every coach can share their videos. Our goal is for CoachTube to do for sports training what eBay and Amazon did to help ecommerce,” said Floyd.

Prior to CoachTube’s acquisition, PlaySportsTV raised $1.4 million for content development and technology. One of the companies major investors included Will Chang, part owner of DC United and the San Francisco Giants and most recently known for his character in Million Dollar Arm. The addition of PlaySportsTV’s content will quickly increase accessibility for millions of aspiring athletes around the world, strengthening the platform CoachTube created for its users.

“Our team was very impressed with the quality of HD instructional content PlaySportsTV developed and the technology they were using, so pursuing this route made the most sense for our growth in the market,” Wade Floyd, founder of CoachTube, said. “With this acquisition, our mission to help millions, regardless of budget, location, or current abilities, to access the instructions, knowledge, and motivation they need to grow and progress as athletes and coaches, had a much better chance to thrive. We are thrilled to have PlaySportsTV add to our content and look forward to seeing how this will propel our vision in the future.”

CoachTube.com empowers athletes by giving them unique access to talented coaches who can help them improve their specific skill set. Parents can make world-class training available to their children at an affordable price, choosing from hundreds of experienced coaches, each committed to helping athletes reach their full potential. The platform simultaneously empowers coaches to take their brand to the next level and impact a much larger audience. Coaches can set course prices, with demand driving the optimal price point, choose to donate all proceeds to their foundation or simply make their videos available for free. CoachTube.com covers the technical operations, distribution, and even marketing, allowing coaches to simply do what they do best—coach.

Currently, CoachTube.com features 28 sports with coaches such as Pat Summit (the winningest coach in college basketball), Tony Gwynn (Hall of Famer, considered one of the best and most consistent hitters in baseball history), Urban Meyers (only one of two coaches to win a National Championship at two different schools), Tom Izzo (eight time National Coach of the Year for men’s college basketball), Hubie Brown (two-time NBA Coach of the Year), Gus Malzahn (college football coach who oversaw one of the biggest turnarounds in college football history), Oscar Wegner (world-famous tennis coach who developed the modern tennis methodology), Mac Wilkins (Olympic Gold Medalist), Mia Hamm (Women’s World Cup winner and 17 year member of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team) and Sue Enquist (softball champion and Hall of Famer).
