Dutch National Team Announces North American Tryouts

AMSTERDAM, NL — The Men’s Dutch National Lacrosse Team announced North American based tryouts for any players interested in being a part of the 2014 World Championship Team.
Tryouts will take place on the weekend of April 5 and 6 at two separate locations. April 5 will be held in Syracuse at Christian Brothers Academy (6245 Randall Road, Syracuse, NY) from 3-7 p.m. On April 6, the tryouts will be held at Eastern University (1300 Eagle Road, St. Davids, PA) from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Potential athletes are only required to come to one of the sessions. To qualify for tryouts, each athlete must have a valid Dutch passport and must register with the programs manager, Mary Bergmann, via [email protected]. Registration closes on March 27. No late entries will be accepted.

The 2014 World Championships in Denver will mark the third World Championship tournament that the Men’s Dutch National Team (MDNT) has participated in. The Netherlands boasts a strong coaching staff, led by Neal Powless. Powless was a three-time All-American, four time World Championship player for the Iroquois Nationals, and a NLL World Champion for the Rochester Knighthawks.

Once again, registration for tryouts will run until 10 p.m. on March 27. Players should plan accordingly to make sure their eligibility and required paperwork is submitted on time. For more information on tryouts, or how you can support the MDNT, contact Mary Bergmann.
