Gait Lacrosse® Congratulates 2011 NCAA Division I Lacrosse Champion University of Virginia and Coach Dom Starsia

ST. LOUIS, June 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Gait Lacrosse wishes to congratulate the University of Virginia Men’s Lacrosse Team for winning the 2011 NCAA Division I National Championship, and head coach Dom Starsia who became the sport’s winningest coach during the Cavaliers’ postseason run. St. Louis-based Gait Lacrosse, a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation, is the official equipment supplier to Virginia’s men’s lacrosse team.

“We could not be more excited for Coach Starsia and his team after their performance throughout the tournament,” said Ren Pettinelli, Gait’s brand marketing manager. “Midway through the season, the team had to reinvent themselves, and when nobody gave them a chance for even getting out of the first round much less winning the Championship, the players rallied around their teammates, coaches and University and found a way to win.”

Virginia, seeded seventh entering the postseason tournament, capped its improbable run with a 9-7 win over the University of Maryland in Monday’s final at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The win marked the Cavaliers’ fifth national championship and fourth under Starsia, who became the sole leader in career wins when the Cavaliers defeated the University of Denver in the national semifinal game Saturday.

“Gait Lacrosse is already looking forward to next season and strengthening our long standing commitment to Coach Starsia, his coaching staff and the UVA men’s lacrosse team,” said Pettinelli. “Coach Starsia expects the highest level of performance from his team, and Gait Lacrosse remains focused on developing and delivering high-performance products and protective equipment that make good players great, and all players better.”
