What head do you use?
I use the STX eclipse head.

What handle do you use?
The STX axe shaft.

Where does your pocket sit/what type of pocket to you prefer?
My pocket sits directly in the middle of the head. I like a nice big bag. Monstermesh is good for that.

Who is your stick doctor? Do you string it yourself or have a go-to-teammate/friend?
I string my own sticks. Over the years I have picked up a number of tips from other stick stringers. One of the other goalies on our team Guy Vansyckle strings a nice twig.

What kind of mesh do you use ?
I use 12-diamond monster mesh.

What is your preferred glove?
I am a big fan of the G-22 goalie glove. However, we checked out the new k-18’s that one of the STX reps brought in to the locker room and I really dig them.

How much whip does your stick have?

My stick doesn’t have much whip, I need to be able to get some touch on my outlets.

Anything unique you do to your head or shaft?

I like to tape the top part of my shaft so that my top hand does not move when I catch a shot. I do the criss-cross style tape job (just for show I’m not sure what it really does).

How long do you keep a stick before you get a new one?
I usually keep a stick until the head gets flimsy–just before the “hit the weight room” comments come when a ball hits my stick and goes in.

What’s most important to you in a stick/what makes a good stick?
I think a light stick with a deep pocket makes a great stick. It helps me feel a lot more comfortable in the cage.

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.

Man, Hopkins is so cool. I hope to play there after I graduate from high school. Their colors are sooo sick and the biggest stars come out of there. Like Paul Rabil.
