Hammerheads Travel Teams Join Broward Barracudas
DAVIE, FL – August 8, 2014   – The Broward Barracudas and the Ft. Lauderdale Hammerheads travel programs have agreed to join forces beginning with the upcoming travel season. Hammerheads founder and director, Jan Northrop, will join Pete Dunne and Shaun Bamforth as co-directors of the travel program.   Brian Cost, former St. Andrews Assistant Coach and new Assistant Coach at University School, is also joining the Barracudas program and will serve as Director of Coaching.  Additional Hammerhead coaches will also be joining the Barracuda coaching staff.

Pete Dunne, president of the Barracudas parent organization, Broward Lacrosse Advantage, said “Coach Northrop is a high energy coach growing a quality program in our back yard.  He is a natural fit into our program.”  Dunne added, “Coach Northrop took his University School team to a program-best 13-4 record last season, sharing Broward County Coach of the Year honors.  Coach Cost developed his game at one of the most storied high school programs in the country, West Genesee, winning 2 NY State Championships along the way. He also won 2 National Championships at Division II Le Moyne College, and 2 FL State Championships as offensive coordinator at St. Andrews School.  Coach Cost has an excellent coaching reputation and has developed a great following as a result.”
“We are very excited to add Coaches Northrop and Cost as well as the Hammerheads players to our rosters,” said Shaun Bamforth, “We are particularly excited to bring back the high school elite division to our program.  We expect the new HS Elite team to compete for championships this season.”
Coach Northrop is excited to get the combined program going.  “This is a great combination of coaching and player talent and will be a great opportunity and experience for our players and parents.   The Barracudas program has proven to be a solid and competitive program for the last 5 years and is a reflection of the character of Pete and Shaun,” said Coach Northrop.  “We are excited to be a part of the growth.”
Coaches Northrop and Cost will lead the high school program.  Coach Cost will also head the U11A team for the Barracudas.  Kevin Finneran, a 7-time World Champion, also returns to coach in the program along with other notable coaches.  Barracudas fall tryouts will be held Sunday morning, September 7th.   To register for tryouts and to learn more about the Barracudas program please visitwww.cudalax.com.
