Lacrosse America and All American Lacrosse Present Midwest’s Premier Event

DETROIT – Lacrosse America, one of the Midwest’s leading youth lacrosse organizations, and All American Lacrosse, the leader in Michigan lacrosse are pleased to have presented the 2011 Mid-Am Lacrosse Combine and Showcase (www.midamcombine.com) in Detroit on November 18 and 19. The event, the Midwest’s premier lacrosse recruiting event for high school boys, attracted coaches from more than 30 NCAA Division I, II and III colleges and universities, who came to evaluate more than 120 prospective student athletes from across the U.S. and Canada.

“Traditionally, these high-level lacrosse events have been held on the East Coast,” said Chad Gruen, President of Lacrosse America. “However, as the sport of lacrosse has continued to grow in popularity throughout the Midwest in recent years, the caliber of high school player has also increased to the point that we felt the time was right for an event that brought top college coaches to the Midwest to evaluate future college talent.”

The Mid-Am Lacrosse Combine and Showcase evaluated athletes using six different tests to create its combine results. The resulting scores were entered in Lacrosse America’s system, which, overnight, generated a book for each college coach that included a page for each player, including athlete profile information, contact information, academic scores, athletic scores, extra curricular activities, and combine scores.

“The combine was great,” said Mark Miller, an assistant coach with the Colorado College men’s lacrosse team, who attended the event. “All the information I needed to identify and scout a recruit was available to me. The organizers of the event did a tremendous job.”

Elmhurst College men’s lacrosse coach, Andrew Geison agreed, noting “The showcase was very well organized right from the start.”

Only D1 coaches there were Ohio State, Notre Dame, Detroit Mercy. Most coaches were D3. Hopefully next year there will be more coaches there and maybe the level of competition at the event will also increase. As an uncommitted senior there were kids I played against that I wondered what they were even thinking when they showed up. There was some talent in the junior class though.
