Lacrosse Icon Paul Rabil Chooses Octagon for Representation

McLean, Va. (September 23, 2013) – Global sports and entertainment leader Octagon today announced an exclusive partnership with Paul Rabil, the world’s most recognizable lacrosse player. A star of the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and the National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Philadelphia Wings, Octagon will work with Rabil on marketing efforts, branding, and building his clinics and camps across the country. Additionally, Octagon will collaborate with Meredith Communications on all public relations and communications-related matters on behalf of Rabil.

“Octagon is ecstatic to be working with such an amazing athlete, teammate, and role model,” said Erin Kane, Octagon Senior Director of Personalities & Properties. “Paul has proven to be one of the most dominant players in the game and continues to transcend the sport. We look forward to working with Paul and building upon his many marketing initiatives already underway.”

Currently being featured in the national ESPN “DaDaDa” commercial, Rabil has received more accolades than any other player in MLL history. A two time winner of the league’s Most Valuable Player honor, Rabil has earned three MLL Offensive Player of the Year awards, five First Team All-Pro recognitions, six MLL All-Star selections, and in 2011, Rabil helped bring the first MLL Championship to the city of Boston.

On a global scale, Rabil helped bring home a gold medal for Team USA in 2010 as the team defeated Canada in the FIL World Championships in Manchester, England. Winning the World’s Most Valuable Player award after his standout performance during the championships, Rabil is expected to compete for Team USA in the 2014 FIL World Championships in Denver, Colorado.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Octagon family,” said Rabil. “With their tremendous history of success in athlete management, unrivaled global resources, and leadership, I truly believe that Octagon is the perfect fit for me. I am confident that Octagon will help me, and the sport of lacrosse, reach new heights.”

Born and raised in Maryland, Rabil was a four time All-American at Johns Hopkins University and was a vital member of the 2005 and 2007 NCAA Division 1 Championship teams. Rabil, who remains the career points leader in NCAA playoff history as well as Johns Hopkins University’s all-time leading goal scorer as a midfielder, was selected first overall by the Boston Cannons in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft.

Rabil has also been active in the community through his foundation, The Paul Rabil Foundation (PRF). PRF, founded in 2011, is committed to helping children across the country realize their full potential, especially those with learning differences, by supporting programs and partnerships that advance their lives and opportunity through sports. The face of the fastest growing sport in the country, Rabil’s career and life off the field has been chronicled by various outlets including The New York Times, Bloomberg News, and The Washington Post, among others.
