BALTIMORE — The Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse team will depart Charm City on Wednesday morning for an eight-day trip to the Pacific Northwest with stops in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia, and Seattle, opportunity funded through externally raised sources.
On the trip, the Greyhounds will play a pair of games against local teams, one box and one field game against teams from the area.
Vancouver, a metropolitan area with more than 2.3 million residents, will be the first stop on the journey for the team. While staying in the area that hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics, the Greyhounds will go on a whitewater rafting trip as their first outing.
Loyola will then play a box game at the Queens Park Arena on Thursday prior to watching a Men’s Senior ‘A’ Lacrosse game that night.
The following morning, the Greyhounds will challenge the Grouse Grind, a 1.8-mile trek to the top of Grouse Mountain overlooking the city. The course has 2,830 natural stairs, and climbers will go up a vertical rise of 2,800 feet.
Later in the day on Friday, the team will visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge where visitors can see a West Coast rainforest in several vistas.
On Saturday, the team will travel to Vancouver Island and the city of Victoria, British Columbia’s capital city. After taking the ferry to the island on Canada’s Pacific Coast, the team will go on a zip-line adventure.
The Greyhounds will also play a game in Victoria before leaving the island on Tuesday to travel by ferry back to the United States. The final night of the journey will be spent in Seattle before the Greyhounds fly back to Baltimore.
