Millsaps Majors Release 2014 Schedule

JACKSON- Millsaps Men’s Lacrosse is proud to release their 16-game schedule under first year Head Coach John Hoeffler.

The schedule features first time match-ups against programs Lyndon St. (Vermont), Illinois-Wesleyan, Hope (Michigan), and Benedictine (Illinois).

The Majors increase their schedule in 2014 with additional out-of-conference competition featuring Peidmont, Fontebonne, Southwestern, Dallas, and Huntingdon.

Coach Hoeffler is looking for the Majors to improve in 2014 from the program’s best record in 2013 (5-9).”We added a couple more out of conference games to prepare us for a tough SAA schedule,” Hoeffler said. “I think with this schedule, our men will be ready to make a run into late April.”

The Majors then have three out-of-conference games before heading to Hendrix on March 22. March 28th marks the start of a home weekend hosting Centre on Friday then Sewanee for the first Senior Day in program history on March 30th.

“I couldn’t be more happy with this senior class,” Hoeffler said. “These men have really stepped up to lay a solid foundation for this program to be built upon so we are working to send them out on top.”

The Majors then finish regular season conference play on the road at Rhodes (4/5), Oglethorpe (4/11) and at Berry (4/13).

Millsaps is looking to avenge some key losses from last year in its quest for an SAA title.

“We are introducing a new system this fall with new concepts to the guys,” Hoeffler said. “The men are working hard in fall ball so I’m anxious to see them continue this work for the rest of fall/winter and into the 2014 season to compete for an SAA title.”
