National Lacrosse High School Showcase Presented By Rabil/Warrior Announces 2014 Schedule

After completing a highly successful inaugural year in 2013, The National High School Lacrosse Showcase presented by Rabil/Warrior is excited to announce the details for its second year of competition. With tremendous support from their sponsor, Rabil/Warrior, the National High School Lacrosse Showcase is already considered one of the most prominent summer lacrosse events.

The 2nd National High School Lacrosse Showcase (NHSLS) will be held over the weekend of July 11-13, 2014 at Blandair Park in Howard County, Maryland. Conveniently located for fans and travelling teams, Blandair Park sits between the cities of Baltimore and Washington, DC, and is fifteen minutes from BWI Airport. The facility offers four turf fields complete with lights, stands, and scoreboards along with one natural surface field. .

Started in 2103 by two high school Head Coaches, Andy Hilgartner, McDonogh School (MD) and Bob Shriver, Boys’ Latin School (MD), the NHSLS is a unique, high school team only summer tournament. Created to bring together quality high school lacrosse programs from around the country and Canada, the NHSLS has grown to 40 teams from 13 different states and Canada. With the level of commitment and focus each school brought to last year’s event, the NHSLS is like no other summer lacrosse tournament. Said Hilgartner, “It is a great opportunity for the participating teams to compete against the best, play for their school colors, and try to gain a few bragging rights.” Last year, it was Georgetown Prep from Washington, DC that took home the trophy. For a list of this year’s participants, log onto the NHSLS website at https://nhsls.com/.

With over 65 prominent college coaches attending the inaugural NHSLS, it is expected well over 100 college coaches will be combing the fields for this year’s event. Said Shriver, “The feedback we received from college coaches about last year’s event was overwhelmingly positive. What was evident and not lost on them was how much harder the kids competed in the NHSLS versus a normal summer all-star or club event.” Hilgartner added, “We like to think the NHSLS is bringing the intensity and passion of spring lacrosse to the summer.”

A number of college coaches agreed. Commenting on the NHSLS last year, Dave Pietramala said, “It’s good to see there are some tournaments and camps that allow high school teams to play together. It’s an opportunity to evaluate kids in a different environment. There may be some kids that don’t necessarily flourish in an all-star environment, but with their team and specific role, they may flourish.”

By mid-June, team pools will be announced and a schedule released.

For participating teams, player registration begins on March 1st and for more information go to https://nhsls.com/
