National Lacrosse Team Partners with Guardian Caps

Turkey National Lacrosse Team Adopts Guardian Caps Technology

Alpharetta, Ga. – January 27, 2014 – Guardian Caps, a soft-shell helmet cover designed to reduce the severity of hits on the football and lacrosse field, announced today its partnership with the Turkey National Lacrosse team.

The Guardian Cap is a one-size fits all 7oz. soft-shell helmet cover that can be worn on the outside of any current lacrosse helmet. The material within a Guardian Cap contains the proper density, stiffness and energy absorbing properties to reduce the initial severity of impact to the head by up to 33%. Athletes taking blows to the head from errant sticks and shots as well as collisions with other players or the turf will incur lower force impacts with the addition of a Guardian Cap.

“We are thrilled to partner with such a passionate group of athletes on the national level,” said Matt Simonds, Guardian Caps National Sales Director. “The program has seen explosive growth in just a few short years and we are looking forward to building a long-lasting relationship.”

The Turkey Lacrosse Association (TLA) was founded in 2009 by former United States resident Patrick Dougherty to educate and develop the sport of lacrosse in the Republic of Turkey. This also provides a healthy outlet for children and opportunities for the community to unite.

Dougherty is a long-time lacrosse player who rose through the ranks of youth and high school lacrosse all the way to the Tampa Bay Thunder before bringing the first lacrosse program to Turkey. In his role as the Executive Director, Dougherty is actively involved in following lacrosse industry news, which led him to the Guardian Caps.

“I came across an article about the High Point University Men’s Lacrosse team and their use of the Guardian Caps, which inspired me to learn more about the product,” said Patrick Dougherty, Executive Director of TLA. “Once speaking with the Guardian Caps team, I quickly realized the added benefit for our team in helping us bring an extra layer of protection to our players.”

The Turkey National team will make their United States debut in the Guardian Caps during the 2014 World Lacrosse Championship hosted at the University of Denver, July 10-19.
