Rapper Wale To Perform at LXM Philly

Wale is set to perform in Philly for the next stop on the LXM PRO Tour. Wale will be hitting Philadelphia August 28th as LXM continues its nationwide tour of providing clinics, live concerts and pro lacrosse.

The self-proclaimed “Ambassador of Rap for the Capital,” Washington, D.C.-based rapper Wale (pronounced “wah-lay”) was able to transcend his local sensation status and become a national rap contender using go-go-inspired hip-hop as the vehicle for his lyricism and clever wordplay.

Producer Mark Ronson discovered Wale in 2006 and signed him to Allido Records in 2007. While signed to that label, Wale released several mixtapes and appeared in national media including MTV and various urban magazines. In 2008, Wale signed to Interscope Records, and his debut album Attention Deficit was released in 2009 with the singles “Chillin” and “Pretty Girls”.

Fun Fact: Wale attended Robert Morris University and Virginia State University on football scholarships, then transferred to Bowie State University but dropped out. Wale’s boyhood love of the game of football and the Washington Redskins has led to a longstanding rumor that Wale had a tattoo of tight end Chris Cooley.

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
