WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference will grow to 18 NCAA Division II sponsored sports with the addition of women's lacrosse beginning the spring of 2015. The conference is currently sponsoring its first season of men's lacrosse. WINTER PARK, Fla. - Six teams will take the field this spring for the inaugural season of men's lacrosse in the Sunshine State Conference. The Tampa Spartans have been chosen as the preseason favorite to win the first-ever SSC Men's Lacrosse regular-season title. In a poll conducted among the SSC head men's lacrosse coaches, the Spartans tallied 25 points and received five of the six first-place votes. Johns Hopkins attackman Mike Morris and Hofstra attackman Jake Rooney have decided to transfer and continue their playing careers at the University of Tampa, with both enrolled at UT and eligible for competition. Greg Griffo Becomes Tampa’s First Lacrosse All-American, Full Division II All-American List Included
TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa men's lacrosse standout Greg Griffo has been named an honorable mention All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Coaching Association (USILA). He becomes the first player in program history to earn the honor. Griffo, a senior from Babylon, N.Y., recently concluded his Spartan career as the team's leading scorer. In 16 games, he netted 28 goals and 10 assists, including a pair of game-winning goals. He registered at least one points in 14 games this season. Read More...
