Sonoma Announces 2015 Schedule

Sonoma Announces 2015 Schedule

Rohnert Park, CA – The Sonoma State Seawolves are back on the field and gearing up for the 2015 season. Tryouts were held in mid August, with the largest number of players coming out for the team in years. After graduating only four players from a season ago, the Seawolves return their Top 5 scorers as well as a group of 17 freshmen many of who will contribute immediately.

The Seawolves will be tested again this spring with another hard schedule that may be even tougher than last season. The slate of games that Sonoma State will face is one of the toughest in the country. Sonoma State will play eight teams from the top 25, seven of those teams ranked in the top 12 and three of those teams played in the final four last season.

Sonoma State starts the season on the road against a familiar fall opponent, Dominican, now a member of the WCLL. The Seawolves will then host a team from north of the border, Simon Fraser. Next on the docket for Sonoma State will be a trip down to Orange County where they will play Texas and Chapman. Head Coach and former Sonoma State great, Dallas Hartley and his Chapman Panthers will look to avenge their double overtime loss from a season ago. The Seawolves will then head back home to “the friendly city” for a game against league opponent UC Davis before their spring break trip. Spring break will be a big test for Sonoma State as they will play powerhouse Colorado State and defending National Champion Colorado. Sonoma State will face another big test ten days after playing Colorado as they will host rival UCSB. The final four games of the season are all very important league games. Sonoma State will host Chico, make the trip down to San Luis Obispo to take on defending WCLL Champs Cal Poly and then head to Palo Alto for a game against Stanford. The regular season will wrap up with a home game against Santa Clara on April 18th.

“This is the toughest schedule Sonoma has had in a few years” said Head Coach Panchito Ojeda. “The players and the coaches wanted to challenge themselves throughout the season with tough opponents. We are excited to compete against the best in the nation this coming spring!”
