Spring Classic Matchup: #9 Landon vs Penn Charter

Lacrosse Playground is proud to announce its second annual event, LacrossePlayground.com Spring Classic 2013. The 2013 event will be held in Johnny Unitas Stadium on Towson University’s campus in Towson, Maryland. The remarkable venue will host three high-action high school boy’s lacrosse games. Last week we delve into the Gilman vs Georgetown Prep game. Today, we take a closer look at one of the highly anticipated matchups, Landon vs Penn Charter. Landon is currently ranked #9 nationally in the Under Armour High School Power Rankings. The schools hail from the IAC (DC) and the Inter-Ac (Philly). Both conferences are widely regarded by lacrosse experts as two of the top conferences in the country.

This will be seventh time that Penn Charter and Landon have faced off since 2002. Landon has won the previous six meetings with Penn Charter. The games have been extremely competitive. Last they met, Landon defeated a Joey Sankey (University of North Carolina star attackmen) led team in 2011 by a score of 8-6. Sankey and Luke Howard (Landon/USA U-19 team/Ohio State) dueled/starred in the 2011 matchup.

Pat McDonough is an outstanding coach and will have his team ready to play. Penn Charter always plays a demanding non conference schedule. They compete in the one of the finest leagues in the country (Inter-Ac) in Philadelphia. Playing talented teams like Penn Charter and Haverford best prepares my Landon team for the rigors that we will face in the IAC. – Landon Assistant J.R. Bordley
