Dyeing
Here’s a fresh digital camouflage dyed Gait Torque, with a Boston Cannons theme. I started out on this head during the summer before the Major League Lacrosse tournament in hopes of the Boston Cannons bringing it home, but things didn’t go as planned. I’ve always wanted to do a digital camouflage dye job, and it was a good time to relax and dye a head for myself for a change.
In the Maryland Terps' fan base there have been rumblings of the turtle shell print being used more in the unis (inserts, football helmet, @TizzleSTX has gotta pull something for the gloves and pads). Under Armour stepped it up and added it to this year's men's basketball uni.
Max McCool dyes a Van Halen/University of Alabama mash-up, and shows how quick and easy the style can be with a ruler and some electrical tape.
For this head I based it off of my boys apparel company, Striker Danger, who created a unique line of shorts with the theme Rip the Duck. STX also has some apparel out with this same line and that will be incorporated into my next project so stay tuned. As you can see from the pictures the most tedious part was the individual cutting of each duck. However before I started that portion I dyed the top half of the head a Neon Yellow and the bottom half a Baby Blue.
This dye job was requested by an individual seeing some of my other work done on the site. So the client requested a mini pinstripe pattern inside in White and Red with a solid Black outside.
In honor of the 2010 Division III National Champion Tufts Jumbos, I dyed this head as a gift to their coach. The alumnus that approached me had an idea for a head that would stand as a memorial to this year’s team. We began with a lot of information, and it took a bit of time to figure out exactly what would and wouldn’t fit on the head. The finished product includes all of the coaches, captains, All-Americans, and the year’s motto as well as the Jumbo’s logo.
All these were the same kinda of dye just wanted to give them a different color to appeal to a wide range. I used Super Powers for all four and simply changed the color. Neon Green, Yellow, Red, and Royal Blue. Each process was the same hot glued the White Super Power.
I was asked by Evan Kay to dye him a LXM PRO head as well before the game coming up this Saturday, October the 16th. Evan uses the Evo Pro 2.0 and before he sent it I already had an idea of what I wanted to do.
