PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team used a dominant overall effort to pull off an impressive 10-4 win over #19/18 Penn Tuesday night. The Mountain Hawks’ (3-1) defense extended its shutout streak to 90:14 and forced 16 of the Quakers’ (0-2) 18 turnovers. BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding a strong overall team effort, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team outshot the Manhattan Jaspers, 47-8, and outscored them, 13-0, on the way to its first shutout in 40 years. By most accounts, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team enjoyed a successful 2011 season, but the Mountain Hawks aren’t satisfied. Their most significant accomplishment was making the team’s first Patriot League Tournament since 2006, but they want more. Entering this season, Lehigh has its eyes set on breaking onto the national lacrosse landscape while competing for a league championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament, where they hope to do damage against the nation’s elite. BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a preseason scrimmage against each other Saturday, head coaches Kevin Cassese of Lehigh and Brian Dougherty of Chestnut Hill will be joining forces Sunday when the two friends coach the U.S. National Team in the Champion Challenge. BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Smith Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kevin Cassese announced the Mountain Hawks’ 2012 schedule on Thursday,which includes a 14-game slate highlighted by four teams who qualified for the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Lehigh will host tournament participants Villanova and Bucknell while traveling to Penn and North Carolina.
