BALTIMORE – Former Loyola University Maryland All-American Steve Layne ’10 was named the men’s lacrosse program’s first Director of Lacrosse Operations, Head Coach Charley Toomey announced. Layne, who lettered for the Greyhounds from 2007-2010 and was a starter for his final three seasons, earned All-ECAC Lacrosse First Team honors in 2010 and Second Team laurels as a junior the year prior. The Loyola University Maryland community is morning the loss of Adam Pomper, a member of the Class of 2015, who passed away June 12, 2012. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Mike Sawyer had career-high seven points, scoring five goals along with two assists as the Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse team took down future ECAC foe Michigan, 15-8, on Wednesday night at Oosterbaan Field House in Ann Arbor, Mich. Sawyer helped the Greyhounds (4-0, 1-0 ECAC) become the first Loyola team since 2001 to score 10 or more goals in four-straight games, while also giving the team its first 4-0 start since 2002. When we did a Grip 'N Rip on Max Feely back in February we knew he was a special player, but had no idea he'd end up scoring the game winning goal this past weekend to keep Cornell alive in the NCAA tourney.

In the only game that didn't hit overtime at the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic this weekend, Notre Dame topped Loyola 11-9. The result catapulted Notre Dame into the top 5 of the Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll.
