Tampa Gets Set to Host Wilmington

TAMPA,Fla – The University of Tampa Spartans welcome the Wilmington University Wildcats to the Naimoli Family Athletic Complex Friday afternoon.

Tampa comes in with a record of 2-3, and fresh off back to back victories over Newberry and Wheeling Jesuit. Wilmington enters the match-up with a 1-2 record. Last time out Wilmington dropped a game to No. 8 Florida Southern 19-6.

The Spartans’ dynamic attack features a triple threat in Amanda Voges, Mackenzie Perna, Madison Creech. Voges leads the team with 16 goals Perna, and Creech round out the trio recording nine and seven goals respectively. Tampa’s succsess begins with Amanda rom Leads the team with 37 draw controls. She has also put away six goals on the year. Freshman Natalie Carraway is also a key component of the offense as her 9 assists leads the team. Carraway isn’t just a facilitator she has also registered three goals of her own.

Defensively Tampa brings their A game, the Spartan defense is led by Amanda Voges and Amanda Rom. Both ladies lead the team in caused turnovers (7) and ground balls (12). UT has gone with a committee of goalies this season with a majority of the minutes going to Vala Molamusa.

The team avarages 11.8 goals, 16.2 draw controls, and 19.80 groundballs per game. The Spartans have also posted a clearance rate of .720 on the season. Despite their youth Tampa is a well balanced up and coming team.
