BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a career effort at Furman, Lehigh men’s lacrosse senior Dan Taylor has been named the USILA National Offensive Player of the Week, as announced on Wednesday. Taylor set a career high with 10 points behind five goals and a career-high five assists this past Saturday. The national award comes after being named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the fourth time in the last five weeks (dating back to last season).

Last season, Taylor emerged as one of the nation’s top attackmen and he’s carried that over into his senior campaign. Identified as a legitimate Tewaaraton Award candidate by Inside Lacrosse, Taylor now has 91 points (55 goals, 36 assists) in 19 games since the start of his junior season. He has 15 points this season (eight goals, seven assists) as he stands second nationally in points per game (and tops among those who have played multiple contests).

On Saturday, Taylor had a hand in 10 of Lehigh’s 14 goals (71 percent), which included a stretch from the second through fourth quarters when he had a hand in seven straight goals. Taylor also scored the game-tying goal with 6:50 left in the fourth quarter and assisted on a big insurance tally that made it 13-11. The Calgary, Alberta native scored on all five shots he took on the afternoon.

Taylor was also recognized by Quint Kessenich on Wednesday, named the 27th best player in the nation while his classmate Matt Poillon was #14 on Kessenich’s list. Click here to see the complete list.

Taylor and the Mountain Hawks will open Patriot League play on Saturday (Feb. 21) when they host Boston University at 1 p.m.
