BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men’s lacrosse seniors Dan Taylor and Patrick Corbett connected for a highlight-reel goal on Saturday which made SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays. Corbett recorded a natural hat trick in the second quarter, scoring all three goals of the stanza. On one, he took a nifty behind-the-back feed from Taylor, who drew two defenders and found a wide-open Corbett with pinpoint precision. The play debuted at #10 on Saturday’s 11 p.m. SportsCenter and remained at 10 throughout the night and the next morning.

The Mountain Hawks went on to beat Boston University, 10-9 for their fifth straight Patriot League opening victory. One of the nation’s top attackmen, Taylor was held to just one shot, but finished with five assists including three to Corbett who scored a career-high five goals. Both from Canada (Taylor from Calgary, Alberta and Corbett from Burlington, Ontario), the duo has formed an impressive connection over their Lehigh careers, connecting on a countless number of goals. They have similar box lacrosse backgrounds as skills (including the behind-the-back pass) can translate from the indoor game out to the field game.

As Taylor said in a Lehighsports.com feature story this fall: “In box lacrosse, you tend to stay on your side of the floor and if you ever have to cross over, you increase your angle by going behind the back. It was something that I’ve learned since I was six or seven years old and have been able to develop.”

Taylor and Corbett have had a special connection ever since they’ve stepped foot on campus. They both found time in the lineup as freshmen, solidified starting roles as sophomores and have been feeding off each other ever since. After Saturday’s game, Taylor now has 163 career points (95 goals, 68 assists) while Corbett owns 91 (79 goals, 12 assists).

The 20th ranked Mountain Hawks now prepare for a big road matchup as they travel to #14/15 Loyola in a rematch of the 2014 Patriot League Championship Game. Opening faceoff is set for 2 p.m.
