Prayers for Archer Senft

archer

On August 5, 2015, Archer Senft broke his neck while taking a quick lunch swim during his summer job as a chef at the Beach Club. He dove head-first into an unseen sandbar. Archer, a lacrosse player from Maryland, and his family experienced hardship as a result of this injury and subsequent medical care. Archer’s passions are artwork and lacrosse, thus, this is the perfect effort to help him progress.

Archer’s brother Pete played on the Terps Lacrosse Club, which brought Lacrosse Playground even closer to their cause given our connection to the University of Maryland. Matt O’Dowd, for example, is a current member of the club team.

Charm City Youth Lacrosse League is the only league of its kind in Baltimore City. Their goal is to build a full scale league modeled after the best leagues in the Baltimore area by starting with our youngest players and getting kids involved in structured athletics before they are pulled into less positive activities.

According to Haudenosaunee history, the ancient game of Lacrosse was a gift by the Creator to be played for His enjoyment and as a medicine game for healing the people. The modern game has become very advanced. Cost and just the access to decent equipment and stringing keeps many away from our game. For some as the cost goes up, our game becomes further out of reach.

Our mission is to help grow lacrosse by limiting the barriers of cost and access. If a kid wants to play, we want to put a stick in their hand.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
