Turtle Mesh REVIEW

Over the past year or so some prestrung traditional companies have popped up doing good work for those who don’t know how or don’t have the time to string a traditional themselves. This is our second review on this kind of product this time around it’s Turtle Mesh.

Ease of Stringing 8 out of 10

Overall the pocket wasn’t that hard to put in. The stringing felt a little narrow for a HS spec head so some pulling had to be done making it a little more difficult to keep balanced. Turtle Mesh does not come with shooters so 8 out of 10.

Customizability 8.5 out of 10

Turtle mesh provides for a lot of different color combinations but not a ton of different styles of trad. However the options you do have are nice and they do their best to accommodate.

Feel 5.5 out of 10

The pocket we received buckled almost immediately as it was too narrow up top causing a weird bagging effect. The use of sidewall instead of pocket nylon really made the pocket feel stiff and hard to feel a good release. The hold really never developed because of this. I do have a friend with a Turtle Mesh pocket with pocket nylon that has performed better but still has some quirks to it.

Maintenance 7.5 out of 10

The sidewall used for the pocket was extremely short making adjustments to the pocket a more difficult task than the ones I string from scratch. The adjustments that are needed for trad can be made here just not as easily as some others.

Overall  7.3 out of 10

Turtle Mesh is hit or miss for me and is still functional as a traditional. It’s is much better than many of the “Pro Strung” trads I see coming out these days and could be tweaked to be better for sure. The company is on the rise and stands by their product so I only see improvement from here. Plus they do goalie traditionals and who doesn’t love that?
