In 2009, the University at Albany “Great Danes” Men’s Lacrosse team scored an equipment deal with the innovative equipment manufacturer Maverik Lacrosse. With the New Year comes much anticipated equipment for the Great Danes. 2012’s equipment includes, but is not limited to, Rome gloves, arm pads and arm guards.

The glove is mostly White with Yellow/Purple accents and a Great Dane adorned on the cuff. Rome gloves feature DuraStretch fibers in the palms and fingers for unhindered flex and airflow. SeamlessPalm and Sharkskin add supreme durability and feel. Also new for 2012, XFoam technology minimizes impact, while the Thermoblast coating ensures maximum cooling and comfort.

The arm pads/guards color scheme is split in two. One half is Purple while the other half is White. They, too, feature the same XFoam technology cushion and SharkGel technology present in the gloves.

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
