AUSTIN, Texas – University of Tampa men’s lacrosse player Nick Ferreiro is a member of the 2015 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men’s At-Large team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Ferreiro becomes the first student-athlete in program history to be named Academic All-American, after being the first two-time Academic All-District honoree.
The Capital One Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
A native of Belmore, N.Y., Ferreiro recently completed his senior season with the Spartans as the finance major was among the best faceoff specialists in the nation. He finished 2015 with a .615 faceoff percentage with 161 faceoff wins. He also had a team-high 92 groundballs and added seven goals and five assists.
The Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men’s At-Large program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo and wrestling.
Twenty eight members of the 2015 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men’s At-Large teams have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., including six student-athletes who maintain a perfect 4.00 G.P.A. The 15 members of the first team have an average G.P.A. of 3.93.
