US Lacrosse Opens Registration for 2014 National Convention in Philadelphia

BALTIMORE, Sept. 9, 2013 — US Lacrosse today opened registration at uslacrosse.org for the 2014 US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion. Lacrosse coaches, officials, administrators and sports medicine/fitness professionals can register for the sport’s largest professional development and networking event, set for Jan. 10-12 in Philadelphia, for the early-bird rate of $95 through Nov. 30.

Membership in US Lacrosse is required to attend the convention. Non-members may begin an annual membership in US Lacrosse at the time they register. Online registration will continue Dec. 1-Jan. 2 for $115. Walk-up registration at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Jan. 9-11 is $160. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more members that register together.

“One strategic priority of US Lacrosse is to enhance the quality of the lacrosse experience for participants, and the education and certification of coaches and officials is a key component of that,” said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse. “Much of that education takes place at our annual convention. It is the single best opportunity for lacrosse coaches, officials and administrators to become better at what they do. We’re looking forward to another great weekend in Philadelphia.”

The US Lacrosse National Convention is comprised of approximately 150 educational sessions, many of which occur on two indoor turf fields surrounded by seating for attendees. The convention’s expo hall features 150 vendors, showcasing the latest lacrosse gear and apparel. Major League Lacrosse will hold its annual collegiate draft at the convention on Jan. 10, and the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings will offer discounted tickets to convention attendees for their Jan. 12 home game at Wells Fargo Center. The US Lacrosse Fan Fest will open the expo hall and demonstration fields to the public from Jan. 11. Numerous US Lacrosse committees and other lacrosse organizations will host business meetings throughout the weekend.

The US Lacrosse National Convention has drawn 7,000 participants in each of the last two years.

“We are thrilled to welcome the US Lacrosse National Convention back to Philadelphia,” said Jack Ferguson, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Philadelphia’s reputation continues to grow as one of the world’s truly great cities for sports, and we are excited to once again host delegates of this convention which represents the fastest growing team sport in the country.”

US Lacrosse has secured discounted rooms for convention attendees and participants at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott, which is adjacent to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and will host some convention activities.
