The event starts at 12 p.m. with a Junior Girls All Star game followed by an inspirational 20 minute Adaptive Lacrosse exhibition game. The traditional “Take a Knee” ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. followed by the “featured” college game starting at 3 p.m. The day will conclude with the Junior Boys All Star game.

This year’s Lacrosse Classic marks the first time an Honorary Cancer Survivor will be playing in the college game. Alex Nieves was an integral part of Salisbury University’s lacrosse team when he was suddenly diagnosed with leukemia on December 19, 2010. His battle has been an arduous journey and Alex will step on to the field to play on August 4th CANCER FREE! His younger brother will be playing in the junior boys game, both playing for a cause that has had a personal impact on their lives.

We are also pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Graw, Jr., M.D., CEO and Chief Pediatrician of Righttime Medical Care and Medical Director of HeadFirst has partnered with the We Believe Foundation for this event and is sending Righttime Medical Care’s mobile care center. HeadFirst will offer concussion education and literature, prizes and will have 8 stations set up to conduct free Cognitive Assessment Baseline Tests for ages 10-24. These baseline tests will help manage and diagnose concussions, which according to the CDC, is a growing epidemic in our adolescents. Visit www.myHeadFirst.com for more information.

The We Believe Foundation’s mission is to be a resource that both raises awareness and provides financial assistance for teens and young adults battling cancer through survivorship. The foundation was started by Matt Miller and his family when, at 17 years old, Matt was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Matt’s family created The We Believe Foundation to pass on what he’s received from friends and family to those who may not be as fortunate.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
