Harvard Women’s Lacrosse Adds Eight Newcomers for 2012-13

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women’s lacrosse team has added eight members from the class of 2016 for the upcoming season.

Lisa Miller, the head coach for Crimson women’s lacrosse, has recruited players from five different states. The incoming freshman comprise of two attackers, three midfielders, one midfielder/attacker, one midfielder/defense and one defender.

Miller returns 21 of 28 players from last season’s team that went 9-7 and 5-2 in the Ivy League. The rookies hope to continue the success of last year’s team that made it to the semifinals at the Ivy League Tournament.

Meghan Bauer, Midfielder/5’10/Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School
Played four years of varsity lacrosse at The Blake School … Captain of the lacrosse team in 2012 … Led team to four straight section titles and three consecutive state championships from 2010-12 … Helped the lacrosse team to a runner-up finish in the state championship in 2009 … An All-American selection in 2012 … Named first team all-state from 2010-12 … Also named team MVP and to the Wells Fargo all-tournament team from 2010-12 … Selected for the Under Armour Midwest Team in 2010 and 2011 … Chosen a Kare 11 Athlete of the Week in 2011 and 2012 … A Star Tribune Athlete of the Week from 2010-12 … Also played varsity soccer at Blake … Captain of the soccer team in 2012 … Led the soccer team to the state championship in 2011 as well as a third-place finish in 2010 and second in 2009 … Helped the soccer team take four straight conference championships and three consecutive section championships from 2009-11 … Named all-conference for soccer in 2010 … A National Merit Scholar … Earned AP Scholar with Distinction … Received the John R. Hartmann Award for Athletic Excellence … Also enjoys piano, running, rock climbing, and water sports.

Carolyn Bruckmann, Attack/5’6/Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School

Amelia Capone, Defense/ 5’7/Watertown, N.Y./ Watertown High
