HEADstrong LC Minnesota Set To Host Face-Off To Fight Blood Cancer – Oct 5-6

Minneapolis, MN – The HEADstrong Lacrosse Club of Minnesota is set to host a special event to raise blood cancer awareness and funds to support their parent organization, the HEADstrong Foundation™. The event will be played in conjunction, with HEADstrong’s marquee event the Nicholas Colleluori Classic happening 1,200 miles away in Folsom, PA. The Face-Off To Fight Blood Cancer will be played October 5-6th, 2013 and will be held at The Blake School in Minneapolis, MN.

The event will feature 14 of the top boys high school programs in the state and surrounding area as well as 3 girls high school teams. The event will be highlighted by a collegiate game at 12:00PM. The Minnesota Gophers will square- off against the Minnesota Lakers, a prominent men’s club team from the area.

Sportsmanship is at the heart of this event. After each game, teams will select a player from the opposing team who best exemplified the characteristics of HF™ founder Nick Colleluori on the playing field. Selected players will be presented with a lime green Warrior Relentless27 chinstrap during a ceremony at the conclusion of the event.

The Face-Off to Fight Blood Cancer was the brain child of HLC Minnesota Program Director Pat Donaghy who also serves as the head coach for Cretin-Derham Hall and Frank Clark who is the boy’s lacrosse coach of The Blake School. Additionally, Ken and Nadine Washuta were instrumental in helping to bring the event to life.

“We are very enthusiastic about this new event as we feel it gives HEADstrong great exposure in the Upper Midwest. The game of lacrosse is continuing to blossom here in Minnesota and we are honored to present an event with a higher purpose. said Pat Donaghy, HEADstrong Minnesota Lacrosse Director
