MLL and CBS Sports Network Announce 2014 TV Schedule

BOSTON (Feb. 10, 2014)– Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and CBS Sports Network announced today the television schedule for the 2014 season. The Network will air 24 nationally televised games, up from 20 last season, including the 2014 MLL All-Star Game from Harvard Stadium, and the MLL Semi-Final and Championship Games.

“We are very excited to expand the number of games on CBS Sports Network to 24 this season and feature the MLL Semi-Finals and Championship on the Network,” said MLL Commissioner David Gross. “Paired with our weekly magazine show ‘Inside the MLL’ it will give our fans unfettered access to the best MLL has to offer.”

The first nationally televised game of the season will be Sunday, April 27 featuring the Rochester Rattlers and theNew York Lizards, from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.  The Network will feature several high profile games throughout the season, including Denver’sannual fireworks game on Friday, July 4, when the Outlaws host theBoston Cannons at 9:00 PM, ET. The game will be preceded by a matchup between the Ohio Machine and 2013 MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks, as part of a double-header Independence Day.

In addition to regular season matchups, CBS Sports Network will also air the 2014 MLL All-Star Game on June 26 at 7:30 PM ET. The game will act as a final test for Team USA as they prepare for the FIL World Championship in July in Denver.

CBS Sports Network will provide coverage of the post season as well, beginning with the MLL semi-finals on Saturday, August 16 at 4:00 and 6:30 PM ET respectively.

For the first time, the games will air from the homes of the two higher seeds at the end of the regular season.The change in playoff format was designed to give the two teams with the best season record a home field advantage, and rewarding their fans with a playoff game.

Coverage on CBS Sports Network will culminate with the MLL Championship Game from Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, GA. on Saturday, August 23 at 7:00 PM ET.

Primary play by play duties will, once again be handled by Dave Ryan, while “Inside the MLL” host Evan Washburnwill provide color commentary.

“Inside the MLL,” the League’s half-hour magazine show, will also return to CBS Sports Network this season. The complete schedule for “Inside the MLL” will be announced at a later date.
