BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh head men's lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese announced the team's 2014 schedule on Tuesday which includes 15 games highlighted by an eight-game Patriot League slate and games against two-time defending Ivy League Champion Yale, 2012 National Champion Loyola and perennial lacrosse power Princeton. BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The #14/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to an 11-5 win over Bucknell to win its second straight Patriot League Championship on Sunday afternoon. Senior David DiMaria had two goals and three assists to finish with 10 points for the tournament and earn Tournament MVP honors. The winner will earn the right to host the 2013 Patriot League Tournament, which is huge. This has been a goal of ours all season, as Lehigh has never hosted before. WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Brian Hess paced the offense with his second-career hat trick while sophomore Matt Poillon made 12 saves between the pipes as the #15/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team topped Army 10-6 in its league opener Saturday. CHESTER, Pa. - Senior Dante Fantoni and sophomore Dan Taylor paced the offense with five points apiece while sophomore Matt Poillon made 11 saves in goal as the #17/19 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team topped #12/13 Penn State, 12-10 in the Whitman’s Sampler Independence Classic Saturday at PPL Park. Lehigh took a 5-1 halftime lead, but the Nittany Lions scored eight of the next 10 goals to take a 9-7 fourth-quarter advantage. Complacency. That was the key word and theme of practice this past week as our team found itself struggling only a few sleeps before the opening tilt of our 2013 campaign. The excitement of game #1 got the better of us, and as a result, our focus during last Thursday’s practice was less than acceptable. The lack of focus really came to light while we were struggling with our clearing drill. Coach Cassese was having none of it, and put us on the end line and ordered us to regroup. Read More...
